April 2007
It seems as though every time I begin writing my monthly newsletter,
I’m in an airport somewhere – as is the case right now!
As I am writing this I am on my way to Florida from Sunday until
Wednesday.
Last month was a busy month, and when I wrote you, it had not yet
ended. Financially, my financial report from Central Missionary
Clearinghouse reflected the best income for one month to-date. Praise
the Lord!
As I write, the report from CMC is still several days away, but
I anticipate another record month, reflecting that the necessary
financial support is beginning to consistently come in. Unfortunately,
April has not been a month when new churches (or individuals) have
made firm commitments for specific monthly amounts. However, a few
more pastors have made general commitments to take me on for support.
Praise the Lord!
April 1st, I began the month with Pastor and Mrs. Dan (Bev) Cavin,
and the First Baptist Church of Williamston (MI), just east of Lansing.
Through the gracious spirit of Dan Cavin, the Lord has allowed me
to minister in this church numerous times over the last decade.
Though Dan and I spend little time together, our hearts are in tune,
and we always pick up right where we left off the last time we were
together! Pastor Cavin has committed that their church will take
me on in a few months, as they process our ministry through their
system.
Easter Sunday I was able to enjoy a Sunday in my home church –
First Baptist Church of Pontiac. FBC recently voted to merge with
the Woodside Bible Church of Troy, and great changes are underway
in the community of White Lake, where the church complex is located.
This movement should allow tremendous grow in coming months.
Earlier this month I was with Pastor and Mrs. Jess (Lorna) Hill,
and the Oak Lake Baptist Church in Sugar Land (TX). We enjoyed a
wonderful day together on Sunday and the “chemistry”
was “right” between the congregation and me. Jess and
Lorna hosted me in their home Saturday night through Monday night
for a relaxing time. We attended the Texas meeting of the Baptist
Bible Fellowship, where I was able to make several contacts with
pastors who would like to schedule me for meetings in the future.
Praise the Lord!
Finally, after two days back at home later this week, I will head
to the St. Louis area, where I will preach for the Grace Baptist
Fellowship. My friend Ed Rothenberger (and his wife Judy) started
this church two years ago, and they have faithfully carved out an
effective ministry in Rolla (MO), and I will minister in their absence
there, while they are on a much-deserved vacation. Ed has also committed
to financial support of my ministry in Great Britain when they are
able to do so.
And so will end another month … the next-to-last month before
I head to Great Britain! My tentative date of departure is either
Monday or Tuesday, June 11 or 12! It is a joy to be your representative
in Great Britain.
